Karingal Equestrian Centre is situated at picturesque Mangrove Mountain, an area noted for its beautiful scenery, farm gate produce, historical buildings and cafes… and also the cutting edge Performance Horse breeding. Primarily being a breeding, sale, teaching and training facility, Karingal covers a wide range of services and still focuses on attention to detail. Services include:
  • An extensive breeding program;
  • Preparation of horses for competition and sale both nationally and internationally;
  • Agistment;
  • Riding lessons;
  • Accommodation and facilities hire.

Karen and Martin’s aim is to import and breed horses that combine friendly natures with elite competition abilities – horses that are friends as well as winners. With this in mind they are producing horses that are affordable for every budget and provide a quality facility where people can board and train their horses.

Dornkaart and Sandrels were imported in 2006 along with four fillies purchased on the same buying trip. They are very excited at the progress of Dornkaart, a rich bay stallion by Don Primero out of Piroschka x Pik Bube I. This exciting addition to Karingal was purchased at the Elite Verden Foal auction in 2006. He has proven to be incredibly trainable and talented. The movement is very forward, uphill and with lovely cadence. To date he has been a very competitive, winning or placing at most of the competitions. He has been to and competing at both State and National Championships in 2011. Teaming up with Melissa Van Den Berge the partnership is showing they will be a very competitive combination. We were thrilled this year when Dornkaart and Mel were listed on the Australian Futures squad.

Sandrels – by Sandro Hit out of a Pik Bube I mare. Supreme Exhibit at the AWHA Gala Day in 2007 and 2010 Reserve. Teaming up with Lizzie Wilson-Fellows has meant that the handsome black has taken on a whole new dimension. Last year with limited outings Sandrels and Lizzie competed at NSW State, Vic State and the Nationals at Medium. This year he has been successfully competing at Advanced and has had four Prix St George starts for 65+ percentage scores. All of us at Karingal were thrilled when Lizzie and Sandrels were listed on the NSW development squad.

Other horses bred by Karingal have proven yet again why buyers keep looking to Karingal for their next performance horse. Karingal Anastasia won both Elementary and Medium championships at the Nationals 2009, in 2011 in SA with her owner Sharna Glover they successfully competed FEI, and more recently Anastasia has been again teamed up with Tor Van Den Berge and competed at the recent CDI in Sydney. Karingal Jamiraqui is showing signs of following in Anastasia's footsteps. Being a finalist in the 4 year old Young Horse Class at the CDI 2010 then again in 2011 in the 5 year old Young Horse Class. Then attaining Champion in the Young Rider Nationals with his 15 year old rider in 2010 and listing on the Young Rider Squad in 2011 and 2012. To have such a young combination that is so successful is testament to good breeding and trainability of both horse and rider.

When looking for your next competition horse or stallion for your breeding program have a look at our website. We would love to assist if we can.
